COURT, Nancy Lea

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Nancy passed away peacefully, at her residence in her 86th year. Nancy was the youngest daughter of Dr. Russell C. Zinck and Vivian Pauline Smith, and is survived by sons Michael (Kris) and Philip (Karen), daughter-in-law Ruth Court and grandmother a.k.a. "Nannie" to Laura, Luke, Ben, Sam and Sarah, stepgrand-mother of Andrew, Lindsay, Evan, predeceased by her beautiful sister Janet E. Cluett, youngest son Stephen Russell and husband Doug. Nancy was born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and she attended the Lunenburg Academy from grade 1 to grade 12. Nancy then enrolled at McGill University in Montreal and graduated with a degree in Physiotherapy in 1958. While in University she met Doug whom she married in 1960 and eventually settled in St. Catharines. Nancy maintained her connection with her roots in Lunenburg. She was extremely proud of her heritage and surrounded herself with many reminders of her beloved Nova Scotia ...she was a real "Bluenoser". Nancy cherished her times at the family cottage in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia which she enjoyed as a girl and later with her family. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed the game of golf. She and Doug played many rounds of golf. Both were active at the St. Catharine's Golf and Country Club. Fun fact for the record books: Nancy was one of two women who were the first female members on the Board at the St. Catharine's Golf and Country Club and she was the first female president of the Club in 1997.

Nancy absolutely enjoyed all the joys of motherhood raising three rambunctious boys and then with her grandchildren that followed. Always there to cheer them on and attend functions. She was extremely proud of them and had a unique bond with each of them.

In the later years of her marriage Nancy and Doug did a lot of travelling. One of the highlights was taking the entire family on a cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Nancy and Doug were able to escape the sleet and frigid temps spending many a winter at their beautiful home in Bonita Bay, Florida .... these were happy years which included visits from their children and grandchildren during March Break in Florida. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4 from 9:30 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 83 Church St., St. Catharines. A Final Tribute for Nancy will follow at 11 a.m. To attend the Service for Nancy if you are out of town, please use the following link https://youtube.com/live /wcGmY77RMvc?feature=share In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to the Stephen R Court Memorial Scholarship fund at Ridley College, St. George's Anglican Church in St Catharine's or the Performing Arts Center of St. Catharine's.

The family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. J., the staff of the Royal Henley and all those who enabled and assisted her with living independently especially Shirley Ward, who always went above and beyond for Nancy.
