River Lions playing overseas

Four players who spent the springsummer season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) with the Niagara River Lions are continuing their pro careers overseas.

Forward A.J. Davis is back in Greece playing a fall-winter schedule with Apollon Patras, while Keita Tidjan also a forward, is in Israel with Hapoel Be’er Sheva BC.

Guards Elijah Mitrou-Long and Munis Tutu also went abroad after helping the River Lions finish second in the 10-team league with a 13-7 record. Mitrou-Long signed a pro contract with Semt77 Valovaspor in Turkey, and Tutu is in Bulgaria playing for BC Chernomorets.

Niagara defeated the seventhseeded Guelph Nighthawks 99-78 in the quarter-finals before falling 93-81 to the No. 3 seed Scarborough Shooting Stars.

The top-seeded Hamilton Honey Badgers edged Scarborough 90-88 for the title.
