Seven face charges after police seize guns, ammo

Seven people were arrested on numerous gun-related charges this week after a police investigation in St. Catharines.

Niagara Regional Police said its emergency task unit executed a search warrant early Tuesday at a location near Louth and Nash streets.

In addition to the arrests, officers seized ammunition and several firearms. Seized items include:

■ A black six-shooter Colt DA.88 revolver, loaded with six live rounds;

■ Six live rounds in a speed loader fitted for a .38 revolver;

■ Sawed-off .22-calibre single-shot rifle, loaded with one live round;

■ Thirty-one live .22-calibre ammunition rounds;

■ A Hatsan Arms pump-action shotgun, with six live rounds.

Arrested were Dalshan Baines, 40, no fixed address; Ulysses J. Alligood, 30, no fixed address; Moises Medeiros, 26, no fixed address; Christopher Redmond, 35, of St. Catharines; Megan Loggie, 27, of St. Catharines; Britteny A. Henry, 29, of St. Catharines; and Chassidy H. Archer, 21, of no fixed address.

All seven were each charged with three counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession and three counts of careless storage of a firearm.

In addition, Baines was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order; Medeiros was charged with possession contrary to an order and failure to comply with a release order; and Loggie was charged with possession contrary to an order.
